Dade City

Dade City is a unique community. It retains the gentle southern charm and ambience that has become hard to find now days. Dade City was incorporated in 1889 and is located in the rolling hills of eastern Pasco County about 30 miles north east of Tampa. While Dade City has no major highways it is easily accessible form I-75 and several state roads pass through or nearby. The Amtrak trains make a stop here, also.

The original Pasco County Courthouse still stands in the town square and is the site of many weekend activities from Mid-October to May. Along the main street are many antique and gift shops along with a variety of restaurants. The people are friendly and always ready to spend a few minutes talking with visitors.

Dade City's streets are lined with beautiful trees and many of the yards are filled with flowers that bloom from early spring into November. A beautiful Bed & Breakfast is near downtown, within walking distance of stores and restaurants. The County Fair is held in late February at the edge of town. The area is also home to the largest Kumquat groves in the United States. A festival is held in Downtown Dade City each year to celebrate this "little orange".

The Dade City area also incorporates several other small communities including San Antonio, Darby, St. Leo, St. Joe, Lacoochee, Trilby and Ridge Manor. It is a growing area with new homes and townhomes being added in several areas. There are several golf courses nearby along with parks and hunting and fishing is a big pastime with many residents.

The schools have been recognized and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Pasco-Hernando Community College is just north of downtown Dade City and St. Leo College is just 4 miles to the east. It's an easy commute to Tampa for the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa.
